Morris Minor Owners Club

I have got an interior mirror with a fitted clock by Smiths
and would like to get the old glass remirrored as it is
marked with age so needs remirroring and clock serviced.
I have searched the internet for hours to find any suitable
company. They all seem to do other things rather than
repairing Smiths clocks. Has anyone come across this before
and could recommend a company to me please.
This clock is for a Morris.
I would appreciate your advice.

Sierra Type 9 5 speed box is grating in 2nd gear. It doesn't jump
out of 2nd, so I suspect it is synchro. Would I be right in thinking
that it is the synchro that has gone?
What would be the rough cost of repair, and any recommendations
where I could get it done?
I would dearly appreciate quick response.

I have one of those Smiths clock/mirrors too. It isn't a Morris item really, just a period accessory which could be fitted into any car. Picture (hopefully) attached.[frame][/frame]

Haha, yes, that's true. Mind you, there is probably the best part of 60years between those 2 mirrors and personally, I find there is simply too much stuff in modern cars and I've usually just about learned what all the controls do by the time my car is changed three years down the line and I have to start learning all over again In my modern car, just the heating system alone is more complicated than the entire Morris Minor.......and my Minor has a perfectly adequate heater anyway!

Type 9 boxes are very sensitive to the type of oil used. Try draining out the old oil and refill with synthetic oil before condemming the box.

I know some members of the Classic Motor Boat Association have used them and the reports are good.

I fiddle around with time pieces from time to time, sorry, very often dirt or a hair is the simple cause and the remedy a gentle blow down with clean low pressure air and a little thin oil on the spindles the cogs slide over.
If the back comes off easily take a look at it.
