Painting fibre glass ?

Any tips on painting fibre glass ?

I am doing a bit of tarting up on my Mog before it gets used at a wedding in December and am replacing the rusted, rotten bumper valances with fibre glass ones. They are a nice cream colour and have a great smooth finish. If they look good when fitted I may leave them that colour as they'll match my wheels and rad grill. But I will probably paint them before final assembly.

Can I just give them a couple of coats of primer then top coats, or do I need to rough it up a bit to start.

Ta.

You will need to rub down the surface so that the primer can adhere. If you don't, the primer will flake off over time - something regularly seen on fibreglass panels

But make sure you rub it down dry as fibre glass will absorb moisture.
