Sealant/ putty ??

Hi, I am about to buy a set of new gutters for my van. They aren't too bad to be honest, but the front corners have started to go, and the inside rail on one side is rotten. Anyway when I have fitted them and come to weld the roof back on, what to I use to seal the joint to stop water getting through- I'm assuming I would have to use some sort of putty?
Thanks, matt

I used some sealant that's used on caravans, it's non setting and has done the job. I bolted my roof on after extensive repairs so was able to apply the sealant before assembly, it then squashed out and the surplus removed. Can't remember the name, will post if I can find the stuff.

It was Carafax IDL 99 sealer. However there appears to be other types out there that are no doubt as good. The Carfax stuff is non setting, you may prefer something that's not.

Just used Sikaflex 291i to seal gaps between aluminium and wood on my traveller. It is flexible and waterproof and used in boats (so was readily available locally) but not sure I got the same code as when I was fitting new a new ash wheel arch a couple of years ago as this seemed a bit messier!

It might just have been a newer batch than the previous one John.
