Hi

I took my Morris out for a spin today. The engine did not sound happy at all. Eventually it cut out and simply did not want to start. I then checked that there were spark. Found great spark. Then checked for fuel in the carb. All fine.

By pure luck I noticed that the needle moved down. What can cause this to happen? After I pressed it upwards, the engine started immediate my and sounded sweet again.

Do you mean the carb needle or the jet.
The needle is secured in the piston by locking screw and should not become undone.
Is the jet linkage in good order? Has the jet linkage become undone?

Hi

The needle seem to just have gotten stiff as I haven't driven it for some time. Problem was that the choke will move it down. It however stayed down even after choke was closed.

Some oil and open and closing it a few times and alls well.

If you mean the piston assembly carrying the needle - then remove it and carefully clean with nothing more than a little brasso until the piston slides up and down in the bell very easily. Then refit - and add a couple of teaspoons of engine oil in the top.
