Another anti thieft idea

After taking out the front car seats for restoration, I realised that if they stayed out during the winter layup it would be
harder to move the car.

I did come up with an idea years ago (30 odd years ago) to have a security device to lock seat backs in a forward position or tipping seats tipped up. Hence blocking the steering wheel and blocking the driving position. Nothing came of it though !!!!!

The seats idea is a help but after seeing a stolen car with seats missing get stolen by a man who turned up with a milk crate you realise they will get round n seats, the seat locked to the steering wheel is good enough to slow most criminals down a fait bit.

if I ever had to leave mine in an isolated area I would simple take the rotor arm out,still could be towed away,but I bet no toe rag carries a spare rotor.and with the cap refitted would take a while to find it was missing

Very true kennatt, I have done the same thing. But the best is a visual deterrent, i.e. Disklok is the only acceptable steering wheel lock as it covers the full wheel. This likely stops the opportunist thinking about breaking in whereas a hidden deterrent would only become apparent after the break-in damage had been done. I paid £15 for a second-hand Disklok.

I always use a Disklok too but blimey you got that one at a bargain price The large ones seem to go for a higher price than the others - worth it though.

Never buy new - scour car boot sales etc, got that one from a flea market, they turn up now and again.

Are there different sizes of Disclock?
If so, what size is needed?

I would start by measuring the diameter of your steering wheel, armed with that info the spec on the product should correspond. I presume there are various sizes.

There are three sizes small, medium and large. The large size is needed for the standard Minor steering wheel.

Wow! That's a bewildering array of locks, John. But which ones would fit a Minor? I had a device from a different car, which locked the handbrake lever and gear stick together, but the bit that fitted over the handbrake was too small to go over the handbrake lever of my splittie. I think the long, spindly SII gearstick was another issue with it.

Anyone know of a version (apart from the disclock) that is suitable?

I use a 'stop lock'. Thatcham approved and fits most steering wheels. Don't think it would stop a serious thief but it's a deterrent...you could hit them with it?
