How is this possible.

For ages now, the driver's door on my Traveller has failed to fully shut, with the latch only just passing the safety catch on the striker plate. Every single permutation of adjustment has been attempted, including moving the striker plate as far outboard on the 'B' pillar as possible, and even removing the locator pin, all to no avail. Not an immediate problem as the the car isn't yet ready for the road, but one of those jobs that would have to be confronted sooner or later.

Last weekend I inserted the new weather strips in the door, either side of the glass.

The door closed perfectly.

No, I don't understand why, but I'm just glad it now closes.

Clearly the weatherstrip on the inside is fractions smaller than the one on the outside, bending the door juust the right amount to get it to close properly.

Seriously now, maybe while fitting them you managed to push the door's front end a little bit outward on the hinges (in case you hadn't tried that previously) and that did the trick?

A great result! It is odd that such tough little cars can be so temperamental at times. I presume that yours is female?
