traveller rear wing piping

I am just in the process of putting my traveller back together.I am having one hell of a job fitting the rear wings with the wing piping to the frame.Is there a correct way of fitting the wing and the piping.I have got one side on,after several attempts and it looks good now,but the second side looks dreadful,there must be a trick to fitting the pair of these that I am not aware of.I have new wood and new old stock steel wings.Help please !

I have done mine today , on a saloon . It was quite straight forward for me . Get all the bolts in loosely . I started from the front , slotting the piping to slip past the bolts and cutting the hidden part around the tight curves and nipping up the bolts and checking the piping is in snug .

Fit the piping to the wood frame carefully using tacks or staples if you have a staple gun. Follow the shape of the wood. You'll probably have to trim the piping a bit. Once you're happy with that, carefully fit the wing which hopefully you trial-fitted earlier. Original rear wings came with fixing holes already in place but the new ones now do not. If yours had none then the holes should ideally be drilled prior to painting. The wing should be painted prior to fitting, using screws and washers. Avoid putting fixing screws into joints in the wood frame.
