This is the end of the indicator switch . I can't tell if this is the end of a broken bulb or the thread part of the bulb holder is broken off ? How does the black plastic end come off the stalk ?
Thanks Jim

It looks like the screw end of the broken bulb to me. Whilst you can , after a quick squirt of WD40 or Plusgas , remove the remnants with thin needle nose pliers, it might be in vain.
The light is covered by a plastic dome , which screws into the indicator arm. From the picture it looks like the end /larger thread for the dome has seen better days and is no longer " perfectly round ". The black plastic end is molded to the stalk
and is not removable.
It looks like a replacement indicator stalk is required , unless anybody else has cunning plan ?

Had a similar Problem with mine - the temp solution was to glue the green bulb cover with Wood glue ( such that it could be later easily removed ).
Later I found a bolt which could be screwed in to reshape the threaded part. A part of this blot can be filed flat to allow it beginn threading. Once complete the new buld can be fitted and then the green cover - new ones are available quite cheaply.

Even if you can get it working in my experience these are never reliable. I wired my indicator to a separate accessory warning lamp and glued the green end on permanently.

It was a broken bulb holder . The black end does come off with a bit of persuasion. . It showed sign of melting , so before I invest in a new one I have made a temporary fix

I have got all the lights working , but the warning bulb on the stalk refused to flash , then I noticed an extra warning lamp on the dash flashing , so it must have been diverted at some point .
