anyone bought springs from here???

need to get some new springs but read about some horror stories from the
usual suspects

any good suppliers ??????

I contacted them and they sent my enquiry off to Bull Motif so I assume that BM are supplied by Woodstock. BM then offered me some springs that...well...you might have read the saga somewhere. The only good thing to say about them is that they keep the bodywork from scraping the floor. I now also have awful axle tramp.

Rossendale Springs seem to have a better rep but at a price.

You've him the nail on the head, you have to pay for good stuff, and because of that there's not much about!

Rossendale look to be the real McCoy. They are the ones I would choose if my car needed them and I'm broke!

Rossendale springs were quick at getting back in touch with a price.
We can supply these Springs @ £150.00 each + carriage at cost + VAT.

So that is £360 plus carriage.
Quite a bit more than I was hoping for, I suppose you get what you pay for but when the car cost not much more than that....

We buy our springs from Rossendales, they are excellent quality. Expensive yes, but you do get what you pay for. We had them spec the 'eyes' to the std Superflex' bushes and they fit a treat. Both ESM and Bully onesw have oversized 'eyes' and require a larger bush. We found both of the latter only last 3 months average usage before loosing almost 1" in ride height. No drop in over a year with the Rossendales.

My springs look quite new , but are missing some of the rubber/ metal straps . Are these available or should i make something ?

The rear springs fitted to a Morris Minor saloon should each have two clips in front of the axle and one behind the axle.

I'm looking to use the 2 top leaves from the BM springs and all the rest from the old ones since the BM lower parts aren't drilled centrally. I'm going to have to make new clips and rubber inserts to make it all work. Has anyone got photos of the ESM springs? I wondered if they were any better?
I had asked Woodstock if they'd sell just the 2 top leaves or sell it as a self-assembly kit so I could bin parts I didn't want/need. No joy.

I wouldn't say they are useless but perhaps say they are a starting point for making something worthwhile. Keep the longest 2 leaves and reuse the lower ones, find a supply of hard rubber to make new straps and then add some Rydal bar with holes drilled in the end that can be clamped round to make a strong and sturdy bracket. Problem with producing them is that every car would need different sizes.

I did post about having had my springs reset by an old timer Minor/suspension specialist but I don't recall posting pics of any clamps.

I've tried the re-temper route in the past - didn't really work out as I'd hoped as they sagged pretty quickly.

Thanks for the photos of the clamps . The ones I have left on the springs are not much more than a steel cable tie , they are quite flimsy , which is why they probably fell off .

Can the traveller springs be fitted to a saloon and if so are there any advantages?

Yes indeed they can - and they firm up the back of the car very nicely and eliminate 'axle tramp'. If you find them just too firm - then the bottom leaf can be removed if required. Even Traveller springs still give a very 'soft' ride. Folks who complain of a firm ride usually have the car pretty much sitting on the bump stops ! One inch can safely be cut from the bump stops to improve suspension travel - and of course - drain and fill the dampers with SAE 40 oil. The improvement will amaze you....

I've noticed that the diff nose on these new springs is pointing downwards to quite an extent. Anyone else noticed this? Ideally I'd need the front part of the diff to be raised about 1 to 1.5cm to get the diff pointing along the same line as the propshaft. that can't be good for the tramp! I'm going to make some wedges to place between the axle and the top plate on the 'sandwich' of rubber & steel.
Had a look on another car at the springs i bought about 8 years ago from a company in East Sussex and they are far better made in terms of the clamp brackets.
