Car & Engine Number find

This is really for Pommreg - I have acquired (via eBay), an original "Operation Manual" for "the Morris Minor Travellers Car".
The original owner wrote in the Car and Engine numbers and I was wondering if the vehicle still exists
Car No. FLT 11/28377
Engine No. 122885

This manual has also been an eye-opener and I will be posting up something in the discussion about the orientation of the rear door handle, once I've located the thread.

The manual is for the original early Series II vehicle, with the oil-bath A-series engine.

Regards, George.

Hiya George

Should be min of 6 digits on a Traveller, started at 216*** I believe.

Engine is c9/54ish so first 3 digits correct, just short on the last...if that makes sense...

Chris,
I did a typo on the 3 letters of the Car number, should have been FLJ/11/28377.
I've taken photos of the numbers written in the manual on page 71 and also the transcription written on page 1.
George.

I have an 803cc 4 door, factory built on 6th/7th October 1953.
Chassis number is FAA11/220158, with original engine number 43308, if that is any help in dating the car. The engine number looks approx a couple of years later than mine, given annual production at that time.

Thanks John

Most likely error for 283377, no chance of being 288***, - "3"," 5" & "7" are "flat-topped" numerals - could be 283777 I suppose.....would have to contact Gaydon to be sure.

What a sad life I lead!!!

Chris,
I doubt if the car still exists, so no point in attempting to reunite the current owner with the original "owner's manual", but it would still be nice to know the details.
I missed getting an early Series II Traveller from Brian in Wellington - got his 1955 4-door instead. My Trav is a 1956 Series II "face-lift" model, just a couple of months shy of the Series III being launched.

John, are you still down near Bognor? Thought that you were having a "clear-out" to move home about a year ago!

Regards to all,

George.

Hi George
Move is scheduled for October 7th at the moment. Legals currently taking place.
Still much to move, but my last minor leaves tomorrow! :(

Could only find a 284*** Traveller.

Only record regns if log book advertised for sale, OR -provided I have chassis number details - those reported as stolen.
