Can anyone help me I would like to fit a tow bar to my 1971 Traveller. I will be towing my 1958 Lambretta. Would like some advice before going to tow bar specialist. Thanks

Is that towing the scooter directly (on a frame) or the scooter on a trailer? Likely make not a lot of difference....but....

The Traveller takes a bar quite happily. Witter used to make then and you might find one around, or Watling engineers still supply them. There are various home made versions, and Club Spares sometimes has them available. Typically they are angle iron that attaches to the bumper mounting with a tie bar going to the boot floor. The rear of the car must be sound! You will probably have to move the number plate. Some bars allow you to open the rear doors with the trailer attached, whilst others require you to unhitch before opening the doors. If you search for "tow bar" or "towbar" you will find numerous posts that may give you a few more ideas.

Once fitted - test it by jumping up and down on it - because that's what your trailer will do! Also a 'tow bar' and it's mounts, and its. electrical connections become MOTable and must pass for lack of corrosion within 300mm and the electrics must work correctly -tested with a special plug-device at the MOT station.
