I have just started to replace the van inner and outer panel. The box section that goes both sides I think should connect to the inner panel. does anyone have and photos/tips? I assume the box section continues below the outer level with the same profile?

Where is this box section that goes both sides, I can't recall any side box sections on the van?

the door pillar (by this i mean the section adjacent to the door which hinge bolts pass)is made up of 2 sections to make a box. it is not square in shape but it is hollow and runs down both sides.

At the bottom it meets the rear outer panel but mine was full on tin worm. earlier posts suggest it should continue underneath to secure to the inner section.

Pictures would be helpful - worth a hundred words..........

I see, I was looking for something at the rear of the van as title suggested. You are referring to a repair at the front of the vehicle. Yes a picture would be best, doesn't the cill feature somewhere in this, I thought it ran under the hinge panel.

as requested this is a photo of the area described above. reading an earlier post I assume this is connected to the inner panel. it probably rusts out very quickly unless appropriately treated.[frame][/frame]

Sorry I'm getting this post completely wrong. REAR door hinge pillar! What a difference a picture makes. I'll see if I can find pictures, the side panel originally had an extended section that passed through the floor and was spot welded to the inner panel, the outer was then fitted.

This may help, the extended piece of metal hanging down, passes through the floor and is spot welded to the inner rear panel ( the side facing the rear of the van) [frame][/frame]
where the box type of section ends, is where it touches the top of the rear outer panel.

Here's one that hasn't rusted away, with the outer panel removed. May clarify things possibly...

thanks for the photos- it's a real help. it is not how I imagined in to be at all but at least I can repair now to Bering back the original stregnth.
