Can anyone suggest a source of a small pump type oil can with a grease nipple type end suitable for pumping Hypoy 90 into the steering rack? (cue somebody saying "don't you put grease in that?"). On my '69 saloon the parcel shelf restricts the size of the gun/can useable here.

(and sorry about mis-spelling "grease" in the title................)

If you've got one an ordinary pistol type grease gun will do the job.

Better to use grease - all later racks to the exact same spec call for grease. It doesn't run away and hide in the rubber boots!

However, if you DO want an oil gun to lubricate the steering rack with hypoid EP 90, look here: http://www.frost.co.uk/hp-push-type-oil-gun.html :)

Thanks so far. The problem that I have so far has been getting a grease gun onto the nipple, the parcel shelf gets in the way of putting a straight push type gun on, and I draw the line at removing the parcel shelf to oil the steering!

One of my friends, an MOT tester, said he would fail a car that had been lubricated with grease where hypoy was specified. What is the official line on that as far as our cars are concerned?

How would he know? And it's none of his business anyway when doing an MOT - he's talking nonsense.

Squeezebox - That pump I showed a link to should not foul your parcel shelf as I have one and do not have a problem with it. It is quite small.
