Apologies now if this is a silly question as im very new to the classic car world and car maintenance.
I have seen other posts about jumpy speedometers which my Morris suffers from. I wanted to locate the speedo cable, could somebody tell me where it should be, or even better a picture?
Thanks,
Stephen

Surprisingly - it's attached to the back of the speedo.... then follow it down to the gearbox.

Yep. it goes from the centre of the back of the speedo, through a hole in the bulkhead above the battery and then curves down beside the rear left of the engine and into the side of the gearbox. It's just over 1/4 inch thick, slightly ridged, and usually flaps about a bit. Older ones are grey, newer ones all seem to be black.
A worn cable can indeed cause jumpiness.
To acces the rear of the speedo, look in the gloveboxes where you will see two holes (one in each box) next to the speedo. Insert a crosshead screwdriver and feel around until the driver engages in the screws. Loosen the screws a couple of turns - do not try to remove them. ou can now slide the speedo out of the dash and into the car. CAUTION there are wire that can become detatched or short on the dash. It is good practice to disconnect the battery before removing the speedo.
The cable is retained by a knurled nut that can usually be undone with fingers. At the gearbox end is a larger knurled retaining that also unscrews. When fitting the new cable, make sure that the square cable engages in the drive correctly. The gearbox end is accessed from under the car (support safely before working underneath).
Hope that all helps. the Minor is a great car on which to learn "mechanicals"

If you don't have the Workshop Manual (not hopeless Haynes...) then search for it on Google - it's there - for FREE.
