I'm going to replace the 5.20/14 cross-plys on my 1954 series ll with radials - should I go for the 145SR14 or 155SR14 sizes? Assuming I can get them in Northern Ireland, that is!

The direct replacement is the 145 but the 155 will also fit the rims.

Yes, 145s are generally the replacement ones. Some folks fit 155s, but there is more tyre wall flexing and they look a lot more balooned out.

Charles, another Norn Iron minor. How are you! I've just replaced my tyres with bridgestones 145. I had to buy them from bull motif as the local people couldn't get them. Made a huge difference. The 155 tyres look very fat on the wheel and felt a bit squidgy in my opinion

It is worth noting that the 145X14 radials are actually WIDER than
the 5.60X14" cross plies which the factory fitted ONLY to the wide
4 1/2 J late van wheels so yes, 145's are the correct tyre for the
ordinary Minor wheels.

Thanks, everyone, I've ordered 5 "Camac" 145R14s from Bull Motif - the cost of getting them here is astronomical!
