Logbook and chassis leg Land Rover

On facebook someone's selling a logbook plus plates and the part of the chassis with the number on it. Apparently this is ok but really dosent help us out. I'm really into my Land Rovers aswell as my moggies. I think the Defender is the most stolen car in the UK at the moment certainly in the top few. You would think you'd have to sell the whole the chassis and not just the number as its asking for trouble. Hopefully someone will by it to build a landy on a new chassis but still this sounds dodgy to me as it could be put on anything.

Sorry just wanted to get this out there but also wondered could this be done with a moggie? Just sell the stamped part of the body and weld it on an unregistered she'll or newly built up one on parts. Tho this could easily lend up on a nicked one.

Its done on alot of cars on ebay, it seems it is legal-ish but the only reason i can imagine you would buy a log book and all the care plates is to do something dodgy.

i knew a lad who bought a rough chassis from a scrap yard with no id.
then bought a genuine id from a very rotten chassis on the bay.(he went and checked the remains)
built a very nice swb pick up from parts etc
i can't see anything wrong in that..

Well yeah there's nothing wrong with that. But with so many being stolen it seems daft you can buy a registration and pop it on a freshly nicked vehicle and nobody would know.
