Rear wheel bearing sizes

Post by Bantam »

Hi All,
Could anyone please tell me what the actual 'rear wheel bearing' size or part ref number is for my 1955 Minor with 'second type' rear axle.

Many thanks

The MG Rover part number for a rear wheel bearing suitable for a Morris Minor is RFM001143EVA.
or
Original Minor rear axle bearing made by R&M
Outer race - Pt No: 40-M97
Inner race - Pt No: 40-N97 35L

A bearing supplier should be able to make sense of the R&M bearing data.

There are a lot of C3 grade bearings which have more clearance supplied these days - try and avoid.
Someone will be along soon to give a non C3 bearing part number.

Or just buy my complete 'ready to run' low miles (and not leaking or 'loose' ) rear hubs and slip them on...... :D http://www.mmoc.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=64201 Be very aware if buying new bearings that there is a lot of rubbish out there -especially the 'C3' fit mentioned above which I believe are blithely sold by some of the major traders as being suitable - they are NOT.

Useful information and duly noted, as I have had trouble with wheel bearings in the past.
Best wishes,
Mike.
