Ivor Searle on engine

So our little '65 has a metal plate on the cylinder head, right where the number should be, saying 'Ivor Searle'. What does this mean? I've looked up the company and they obviously recondition engines/heads but will the numbers mean anything or is it more of a reference number that will only mean something to the company?
Thanks

It will be their reference number. I believe they do a good enough job from reading various reports - but tend to charge like wounded elephants!

Glad I didn't pay for it then BMC! No idea what a recon head/engine means in terms of work done but there must have been a reason for it at the time I guess.
