Servo info

Hi All, I would like some info regarding fitting a servo on My 57 moggy
Is it worth doing? And do,s it make any difference

Very useful for anyone with bad knees. Less pushing on the pedal to achieve the desired effect.

No experience of moggies but changing to servo + discs was a good move on Cortinas, Anglias and Escorts!

One very useful thing would be to fit a dual circuit system. Seen too many single circuit faillures in my time.

Reading on here, just fitting a servo or discs apparently makes little difference excepting the less effort for the servo and self adjustment for discs.

Far far better on that age of car to fit the later 8" front drum brakes - BMC did that for a good reason... Much easier than a servo - which doesn't improve the braking at all - it just reduces the leg load slightly -but the pathetic 7" front drums will still fade out right away. The change to 8" is much easier to do too - even uses the same wheel cylinders. Just ask in Wanted if anyone has the backplates and drums - I would fit NEW quality (ie Mintex/Ferodo) brake shoes anyway.
