Limeflower Traveller - Getting Zippy Back On The Road.

Post by Moggsygirl »

Way back in 1989 for my 17th birthday my parents bought me my first car, a Limeflower 1971 Morris Minor Traveller.
I stuck the L Plates on and I learned to drive in my new old car.
I called him Zippy!!
Two years later, I took the car off the road for renovation. Family circumstances forced the partly completed project in to storage.
So another 25yrs later my lovely hubby has rescued "Zippy" and is putting him back together ready for the Summer ❤

Do you like the colour? Not everyone's cup of tea but very much of the period.

Hmmm I definitely wouldn't have chosen it at 17yo, but it was gift. I was given the option to change it when wood and panels were replaced & restored, but even then I just wanted to keep him as he was. Now though, yes I do, I like that it's a less popular and unusual colour. Kinda cool to be uncool :)

Great to hear of your perseverance! Great, too, that hubby is supporting your cause!

Not really surprising that your colour scheme has matured over the years. Go for it, these old cars are not being made anymore and you have a gem. Enjoy!

Looking good. Does it have the Marina front hubs/back axle conversion? (Judging by what appear to be Marina wheels fitted).

Supply ignition key number ?? I think not ... if it were me !
Morris Minors were never exactly high security cars in their day let alone now.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you were asked.

Yes ... Marina wheels... And I'm not mechanically minded at all... But i believe a Midget engine & gearbox. All bodywork, wood and mechanics were done 25yrs ago by Dad. We, husband and I getting interior in. He runs ... But way off MOT haha. Completion feels so near yet so far :)

No production records exist for these, I'm trying to make some sense of it all by collecting vehicle details.
