Re: engine info please
1098cc Austin A35 engine or Minor Van? Low compression.
Edit. Duh! Not A35 so Minor Van low comp.

Re: engine info please
Ah....apart from the "A" prefix and it's mostly found in A35 vans...it's a Morris Minor LC 1098 engine...perfectly logical conclusionRobThomas wrote:http://www.mg-cars.org.uk/news/news498.html

Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Just a thought...Did the A35 1098 use an electric pump or a mechanical one?

Ah, right. I bow to thy superior knowledge!!!
Here we go, straight from the horses' mouth...[frame]

Nuffield publication of power unit service parts.
Strangely the A35 club has some posts telling that it is a 1098 from a Minor van. That's what threw me. It seems the 10AB and 10CG engines had mechanical pumps (A35 and early small crank Spridget) whilst the Minors had no hole for the pump, according to the AKD book.

First time I've seen it (10AB) in print!
10MC merely a GPO spec 10MA

Re: engine info please
Austins always mechanical pump. If it's a Low comp engine it will be a few bhp down on power compared to an HC engine.
