Insurance (again)

I know this has been discussed MANY times on here, but I'm about to get my Minor back on the road after two years SORNed, so I need to get it insured (with breakdown cover), and as these things change all the time I thought it was ok to start a new thread. So, any recommendations? (At 52 I'm not a young driver!)

I use Peter James. No call centre. You always speak to a pleasant human being, and if needed they return your call! :D

Thanks, I'll get a quote from both of them. I used Lancaster last time, but this time they quoted just under £150 which is much more than it was just two years ago.

The MMOC have there own club insurance scheme with Footman James you can taylor your policy needs to your requirments and policies can start from under £100 depending on your needs.

Other Insurance companies are available.

It is worth shopping around, as in my (and others') experience, the club scheme is considerably more expensive than others. It didn't used to be, but prices with Footman James went up considerably a few years ago, and for that reason I jumped ship. That said, I understand they are good (if inconsistent) for younger members. It's a shame the scheme (in my opinion) isn't terribly competitive any more - one of the main reasons I left the MMOC after over 10 years of membership :(

Agree! RH are the best I have found. Currently £67 PA 3000 miles. Fully comp with roadside assistance and recovery home. Also, if it is unfortunately written off, they give you back the salvage FOC.

Another thumbs up for RH - and that's with Roadside and Recovery included - which many 'forget' to include - or charge extra...

I was unfortunate enough to call upon the breakdown cover a little while ago :-? I've got to say they responded very quickly and got me home safe:)

Well RH Insurance really IS fantastic - I've just bought fully comp with breakdown cover for £76!!! And to think Lancaster told me I wouldn't find a cheaper quote than their £148. Thanks again for your recommendations.
