Morris Minor Owners Club

I had a Morris Minor back in the early 80's as my first car. Sadly I crashed it into a Volvo, as 17 year olds are prone to do, bent the chassis and that was that, write off...

Moving on 35 odd years I now have a '72 Beetle (and a '68 bus) and a hankering to get another Morris Minor.

I was wondering if any one on here could would be kind enough to pass their eyes over this and tell me if it looks like a good one. I appreciate you can't see inner wings etc, but is anything obviously "wrong".

Is this car known on here...?

hi harold,it seems ok in the pictures, the back wings are from a later car, the originals have a bigger gap at the top of the wheel and show more inner wing,but some people prefer the later back wings fitted to early cars,an inspection of the underneth for bodges and poor repairs is essential.Some of these early cars are very solid with original metalwork it is also a four door which tend to go for more money, i would say its well worth a look graham

just had another look and noticed it has a brake servo fitted, indicators fitted and has original stile high top radiator, the front seats have been recovered, it has a new head lining, neg points are number plate may not be original, poor description, price seems reasonable if its solid underneth, graham

Personally for that money, I'd expect a car to not only go through the next MOT but perhaps many more after that too.

It's important therefore, the hidden bits, such as the sills and the underneath are as good as the bits shown in the photo's.

Several years ago, mine was valued at £3k. But it isn't as nice inside as this nice little motor.

If you haven't driven one for years bear in mind that these early cars are very low on power. This appears to have the original 803 engine and box, a 948 or 1098 will keep up with modern traffic better.

Look it up on the DVLA MOT register to see what the past history is........
Edit - clear Passes right back to 2006, and now exempt of course. Good going!

The only other error, but it doesn't detract from the value is it has been fitted with a later front valance. The over riders obscure the side lights.

Good thinking - the tacky tarting is a big mistake - I have no idea why people do it......maybe they have horse brasses hanging round the fireplace...... Of course you can always take it all off and throw it away !
