trafficator contact wire

Hi can u tell me geuge of Sf 80 12v lucas trafficator contact wire that inside of the lens - (the spring wire supply pover to the bulb ) and is it brass wire ? Thank you

G'day all
Sandun - the wire is .032 inches diameter ( 0.81 mm.) and best made from something springy like phosphor bronze.

Sandun - I believe by the colour of mine the wire is phosphor bronze. Brass would not retain its spring tension for the coiled up section that is compressed by the lamp. I'm sure this is why they used phosphor bronze. See links.

Is it really worth making one? A new wire and bulb together only costs £3.75 from GS Jones and most other Morris Minor specialists. The wire has to be insulated along part of its length to avoid shorting out.

Thank u ...sooo much - i am from sri Lanka 3.75 GBP is Rs 800 and postage may be 3.15 GBP then cost About Rs 1500 = 6.90 GBP for simple wire
