I have just joined this MMOC but have enjoyed my Traveller for 10 years....I now need knowledgeable and experienced advise.

I have over the years, "restored" a 1971 Morris Minor Traveller 1000 with 32,000 original miles. Owned 10 years travelled 500 miles maybe. Laid up each September and turned out each May.....now would not start, blew fuse (now replaced) and with replacement solinoid it now starts but I have NO Lights, indicator light, headlamps, fuel gauge, oil light .....what's the problem? Any help or hints would be a relief.

Also, car needs a local service garage for basic tune-up and oil change ....any recommendations in my area (High Wycombe-Amersham-Aylesbury region??

Barn Clear-out ---FOR SALE 2 Traveller Restoration Projects: I also have a 1968 Traveller and a 1970 Traveller less starter and solinoid which have been in my barn for 10 years. Both need wood and the later major body replacements. Both were driven into the barn with the thought of creating one good Traveller from the two. I ended up buying another running and well maintained 1971 (above) Traveller and replaced all the wood and re-sprayed the fella original Artic white. I have reached the stage where I wish to clear the barn by July and am open to offers on the 1968 (Dark Blue w/ whitish interior) and 1970 (Grey w/red interior) both are ready for complete restoration. It does sounds like a fuse problem still. Have you cleaned the contacts in the fuse box? One fuse works horn and interoir lights, it has the purple wires going to it and is permanently live. The other works the fuel gauge, wipers, heater, indicators. Disconnect the battery, remove fuses and clean the brass contacts with some fine emery paper, and either clean the fuse ends or replace them with new ones, usually 35 amps.

The headlights should work all the time, the side lights have another fuse thats housed in a fuse carrier below the regulator area. Should be a red wire from memory.

Try this and see how you go.

Indicators etc are fused - but not the headlamps. Use the simple wiring diagram at the top of this section to trace out the problem.

Thanks to two members who lent their expertise and time to my solution. Car now running as before and I am very grateful to members for their support. Now I need to tidy up my barn and sell the other two 1968 and 1970 travellers that have provided parts support ....a starter, solinoid, 2 headlamps, and the VITAL 2 - 35 amp replacements which I blew tracing the problem.

Anyone out there interested in these "projects" restore?? Thanks members. Charlie

A spare 'wreck' if you have storage space for it is worth it's weight in gold as a 'parts' car. But of course - if restorable, that's ideally the better way for the cars.
