Doors back in car; with or without upper half/glas ?

A practical question, my doors are just back from the paint shop and quietly waiting on the couch

I remember removing the doors (with upperhalf) was quit a nightmare (size/weight)....and a lot of damage to the centre post ..
The guy form the paint shop advises to first hang the doors in the car, and then reassemble it with upperhalf/glass...

How do you guys do it?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts ![frame]Image[/frame]

I'm pretty sure that's what I did.... hang the doors, bolt up tight enough so there is no movement, but expect to do a final adjustment when all is assembled. This gives a convenient working height environment to enable you to do all the tricky assembly of all the other parts!

Yes hang first for reasons just mentioned. Looks like you found yourself a good paint shop!

Oh yes, it's awesome ! Tempted to do all of the car...but funds due to total rebuilding of engine, suspension/steering etc are a bit low for 2016

In my garage I can easily hang and move a small chain hoist from beams above the car, and I've recently used this to lift doors into place, using the upper surround as the attachment point. Makes a difficult one man job a lot easier.

I would go back to the paint shop and collect the other door. Then I would hang them first then assemble the frames.

Agree with above advice. The doors are heavy enough without the added weight of the glass etc.

Thank you for your replies !

This weekend (due to lovely weather and good temperatures) i ll paint the inside of the doorposts and then hang the doors, attach them and assemble the upper halls/frames, as advised! Thanks for that !!
