Hi all.
Is it necessary to take out the radiator to remove the water pump? The manuals all say to remove it first, is that the best way?
Thanks.
Neil.

Probably the best way as it ensures the rad is not damaged and there will be more room but possible without removal.

Not necessary at all - but may be easiest way. Just remove fan +pulley - undo 4 bolts and bottom hose - and pull - carefully....

Check the overall depth of the pump including impeller before fitting.

Some pumps supplied have a slightly longer impeller, just long enough to foul on the engine.

Thanks for the replies chaps. I did the job this afternoon, I did remove the radiator because I thought it'd be a good opportunity to give it a good flushing through while it was off.
The job went fine & fitted new thermostat & housing, silicon hoses & fan belt too before filling with fresh coolant, should be ok for a while now hopefully.
