Double take!

Post by les »

Just seen a rusty pickup cab back panel on eBay, just short of 500 quid! Makes you think how unfair some people are. :-?

These panels are fetching £5 scrap, once restored will be worth upwards of.....blah blah Zzzzx
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Probably basing the price on the cost of 'new made in Sri Lanka' ones from Charles Ware. You could certainly spend a lot more than that on a new one.... :-?
It was only about three years ago when I found one of these lying on the grass verge at the roadside. Presumably it'd fallen off the back of a scrapmans wagon and as it was a bit rusty under the window I left it there.... I was in a saloon rather than a van, but wish I'd rescued it now....
I also missed out on one at a few years ago at a Minor National for about £100 (good nick) and then refused it when it appeared on another stall for £250 just on principle. Needed one at the time too. Hey ho :-?
cheers
Iain
