Hif44 carb, valve in disc advice needed

I'm just rebuilding an hif44 carb. It has one of those valves in the disc. (see below)
Should i replace it with a normal non valved disc, take the valve out and solder up the hole,
or just leave the valve in? If I replace it, would the flat disc as used in the hif38 work ok?
Thanks for any help.[frame]

I left the valve plug end in, and cut and soldered up the back..Hopefully that should do the trick.[frame]

Apparently, when the valve spring weakens it doesn't seal properly, and this can cause problems. I think these include idleing issues amongst other things, but i don't have any personal experience of it. I've never tried using one till now, its just what i read on some mini forums whilst researching the carb.

It's an emissions device on the Mini - to let some air in when the throttle is closed. Sticks up in the airflow - so best removed and hole blocked. The throttle plate needs to be as thin and unobstructed as possible for best max air flow. Ideally - not there at all as in the Amal carb!
