Refitting carb

Just feels like one of those days today, where everything i try to do i get stuck half way with a lack of knowledge. Must goto college or something!!!! LOL Can anyone tell me what goes where on the following pics of my new carb as everything is different to my old one. Also what are the two pipes for on my inlet manifold?

Hello Martyn,
the two pipes on the manifold are for water (manifold heating), the larger of the two take offs on the second picture is for a breather from the rocker cover, pass on the smaller one. Second thoughts fuel? The take off on the rear of the inlet manifold is for vacuum (Brake servo).
Not that familiar with these new fangled S.U.'s

Nice exhaust manifold - wish I had one like that. What make is it ? And what exhaust system have you fitted to it ? Forget about the water heating pipes - you want the mix as cold as possible - and just plug the vacuum take-off unless you have a servo.

The smaller one is a fuel overflow outlet.

True that a cold mixture gives best power, but if you want better mpg (without losing much power) then you could route the heater return through the manifold. In my case I'm using a similar-looking MG Metro manifold and it's got 5/8" water connections so I've had to make adapters for the 1/2" heater hose. Yours may be 1/2" anyway, can't be sure from the photos.

The fuel overflow outlet shouldn't do anything unless something gets stuck inside the carb (the needle valve), but I suggest you stick a hose on it to route any petrol well away from the front tyre 'just in case' as petrol is very slippery. My brother once had an 'incident' with a stuck needle valve in his MG...
