Looks like it has been abducted by aliens for 50 years
Must be one of the lowest mileage 50 year old cars on Earth?

It looks a very nice car. Too many incorrect details to be "virtually untouched" but certainly a lovely example. As a natural sceptic, I'd want to see further paperwork and examine the car before passing judgement but for a car to have covered only 52miles over its first 22years there must be a pretty extraordinary story?

Yeah it looks and sounds genuine. But wonder why it has the pre 64, 700 headlamps fitted and not sealed beams.

Indeed - the headlamps are strange, well spotted ! i'll not mention the horrible p***s...... Must have had a LOT of work done to the engine to get 85 bhp from a 1098... I would want to see the earlier MOT's - not just the last few years mileage readings. But it does look very nice, although I would find it difficult to buy as an 'investment' - and far too good to run as even a 'summer' car.

Sealed beam headlamps first fitted in September '66. The car for sale was registered 1st of July 1966 meaning the pre focals are correct.

Yes, I agree, the headlamps are correct. In fact my 1967 (registered) car still had the earlier headlamps along with the metal windscreen surround brightwork.

With current restoration costs it could be a good purchase assuming the reserve is realistic, but how do you value a one off and if you use it then its unique selling point is gone forever. A couple of years ago an Austin 1100 with around 250 miles on the clock was at a few local shows, by the end of the summer it had 900 miles on it and would you believe the owner was getting criticised for using it.

He should have disconnected the speedo....

I don't think any Morris 1000's are worth this kind of money,even if they are genuine.You see dealers selling cars for silly money and owners of their own vehicles get carried away with the valuation of their cars.

Totally agree - these are cars for enjoying - you can buy a MUCH better classic car for that sort of money, and have some fun with it!

I have seen this car. The owner brought it along to the Markwick Terrace Gardens car show in Hastings last summer and I had a good look at the car and a chat with him. I was extremely impressed with it and it certainly seemed to be genuine as it really was in showroom condition. It was before I'd put my new engine in and I was asking him what gear he needed for various hills in Hastings!

Perhaps someone will fall for the blarney gushing forth from the ad, the same price as a vintage Rover P4 or perhaps a half decent Austin Sheerline though?
If its value is based on its low mileage then it will simply depreciate if used, a pointless investment then really, moggies are meant to be used not stored in limbo.

The ebay ad shows an extraordinary 14 revisions so far including 8 price changes It is plainly a very nice example and I would expect it to command a high price. My only doubt would be with the claim that it had covered a mere 52 miles in the first 22years of its life. That would seem unlikely without documentation to support the claim. New cars nowadays are generally supplied with almost no mileage because they are delivered on transporters and new car buyers are reluctant to accept "delivery mileage" but in the 1960s and 1970s most new cars were driven to their destinations (remember seeing the delivery drivers hitching lifts and carrying trade plates?). When I worked for a dealership it was common for new cars to be supplied with anything upto 100miles already showing on the clock having been driven at the very least from the distributor to the dealership.
