Mini Dampened pulley fouling

Hi all,
I have recently bought a dampened crankshaft pulley on here, and when bolted up, it stops the engine rotating by binding on the timing chest.
am i missing something? I always thought they were a straight swap?
Cheers,
Matt

Yes indeed - they are a straight swap. Something wrong with your timing case perhaps?

Unfortunately the later damped pulleys are not a straight swop.
The timing disc attached to the pulley has to be removed. The timing disc is attached by three or more rivets which can be easily drilled out so allowing the timing disc to be removed. Removing the timing disc does not upset the engine balance.
If using a standard Minor timing chain cover the later damped pulley with the timing disc removed will fit without any problems.
On the later cars with the damper/timing disc the bottom of the timing case is relieved to allow the damper/timing disc to clear.

Here is a link to a timing chain cover with the timing disc detector bracket attached.

I've used them just as they are - must be a close thing, but as I suggested in your other thread - just remove the disc as Phil describes.
