Hello Again
Car starts from solenoid and after a stop of half an hour or so will star from key .... but if left for a few hours no response from key not a crank nothing but wil start immediately from solenoid. Do I have a faulty solenoid? Or is it an earthing problem?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Obviously - check the earthing of the solenoid first - but indeed it may be a new solenoid is on order. Avoid the nasty 'square' ones... Or it could be poor/dirty connections at the key switch - or where that white/red wire attaches to the solenoid.

Have checked earthings . I think it is the solenoid . Is there a particular one you would recommend.I have a '64 traveller.

I suggest a 'good old stock' push button solenoid is the way to go. Modern square units - probably made in huts in far away places - seem to attract poor press.......

A short time ago someone on here had a similar problem, they had fitted a new key switch a couple of years ago and it had failed. Another part made in far away places perhaps
