Door Alignment

Hi,
Trying to improve the alignment of my front doors. I have adjusted the striker plate so that it fits perfectly, but it is rather hard to close - involves slamming the door, which is obviously not good.
Question - will moving the pin socket below the striker plate help in any way? I should add that the draught exluder rubbers around and on the door bottoms are new which is probably part of the problem.

I had the same issue with my Austin after fitting new door rubbers. With use it will probably improve. I was advised to smear the rubbers with Vaseline, not sure that it made much difference!

Well yes, Steve. Thank you , but that doesn't answer my question about moving the pin socket.......

The socket should be at the same level as the pin when you are happy with the door height. It won't help with the shutting. Fit the old rubbers.

Not possible.......the new rubbers were fitted because the old ones had fallen to pieces - literally

The pin needs to line up accurately with the socket. Try with seals removed - does it shut well and nicely aligned then ?

A-hee hee! Turns out the kick plate screws weren't tight enough. Tightened them up, a little more adjustment on the striker plate and jobs a good 'un!
