Took my van for a run this morning and passed an Ex Army Traveller, in near original condition.[frame][/frame] 29 FH 49 on chassis plate. I take it that is the Army Reg no. Have a good day everyone.

The brakes work fine as i have renewed everything, drums, pads, all cylinders and pipe work. The only thing that's bothering me is the indicator works when it feels like it. Would this be a faulty flasher unit or something to do with the indicator stalk?? Thanks.

I had this and thought it was a bad connection at the joint in the wire just before it goes through the wing. Fixed it for a while that was until it stopped completely, went to change the bulb and the back of the holder fell apart with rust

I was expecting rocket launchers on the roof - and a rear mounted machine gun or two ! Nice Trav though.

As it's been stood for a long time, I would unbolt the unit and give the area where it's secured to the body,a good clean,along with all spades etc. Could be a bad earth to the body. ESM will supply a new unit,worth the outlay,very cheap.

My Traveller had this issue after a 3-month lay up this year - it also affected the fuel gauge and brake lights; I cleaned the two main fuses and their terminals (fuse on the right hand-side feeding the indicator circuit was loose) in the fuse block on the bulkhead with emery paper and all's fine now.

The flasher unit doesn't earth to the body, so it won't be that.

Doesn't mean that the flasher unit itself won't be faulty though. They are notoriously unreliable - and as suggested above, clean (or replace) the fusebox
