Seat Belt Upper Mount

Anyone got any idea what these two holes below the window are for?
Any more importantly anyone any idea how the upper seat belt mounts on this side?
I took the belt out years ago when I started this restoration but going to refit it last night these two holes in the pic are too small for the bolt and there is no other obvious fixing point.
I wonder if I should just drill a new hole between these two and the edge of the door frame (roughly where the upper mount on the other side is).
Ist really strange both sides are so different.

If you have a workshop manual I think its covered in Section R34/35 (not got manual with me) you should have triangular plate fitted under the rear side windows for the top fixing.
If you need a manual, you can get a pdf version from the internet
hope this helps

I do have an workshop manual Andy. In truth I didnt think to look there as I though these were aftermarket fittings and not original parts so there would be no inclusion in the manual for them (and it was 10.10pm last night and I could barely figure out how to get out the garage by then let alone fit the belt.).
I'll have a look tonight. That said I cant think of seeing any triangular plates anywhere!

Mac,
The holes look like the holes for mounting the hood bracket on a convertible. I only have a photo from the outside of the car but I can take a photo from the inside tomorrow in daylight. The seat belt should be much further forward.

This is the passenger side (Very like Declan's picture):
This is the drivers side:
And it definitely wasn't fitted to the 2 holes (which do seem to be in the same position as those in a convertible);-
And Ive nothing that is close to whats shown in the workshop manual:-
I think I'll drill a new hole for it to match the passenger side, but for the life of me I cant figure out how this was fitted 18 years ago!

It's not a very strong part of the structure - you will need good reinforcing behind !

Your are right of course and I will reinforce it but even without the reinforcement Id still rather have the belt there as even if it eventually gave way in an accident. Im sure it would lessen any impact .
Still wish I could remember how it was originally fitted!
