1275 Midget gearbox quandary

I've just purchased a 1275 Midget gearbox to go with my Midget 1275 engine. As the box is still an unknown quantity I initially planned to put it to one side until after I've got the car back on the road (I've promised it will be complete by July and there's a huge amount to do yet.) I'd then strip and check/rebuild it.

It seems logical with this combination to use a Midget hydraulic clutch mechanism, fitting a master cylinder by copying Phil's impressive bit of engineering

The quandary is this. Do I fit my known good 1098 box to get me back on the road, with a standard 1098 mechanical linkage (probably with lengthened relay lever), or do I take a risk and fit the new box and the hydraulics now while the shell is stripped and easy to access and adapt? Or is using a mechanical linkage a sensible long term setup which can be used for either of these boxes?

Don't want to waste anyone's time - I've just done what I should have done and spent an hour searching previous posts. The consensus seems to be that modified mechanical is the best plan for both boxes, so that is the way I will go. Any further insight and experience welcomed, of course.

Two small points for clarification:-
Your drawing is different to the actual product shown in the photo above in that the arm which carries the connecting link is shorter on the actual product than it is shown in the drawing.
Therefore I take it that you have used a standard Minor clutch release relay shaft and not the modified one to illustrate the spherical ball joint system.
The connecting link between pedal and replay shaft is mounted on the wrong side of the arm in the photo above - and not as correctly shown in the drawing. Mounted as in the photo above it will foul the chassis leg.

The photo shows the relay shaft as supplied by ESM and I took the measurements from it to make the drawing. It could be an optical illusion. Yes the photo shows the rose joint on the wrong side. I just slapped it together (too) quickly to have a photo.

Very sharp, Phil! Declan's rose jointed links do look so much better than the original Meccano and with the heavier springing of the Midget clutch do seem worthwhile. Declan already knew from previous correspondence that I will be extending the relay shaft arm.
