Timming time

Been reading a few posts about fitting a new timming chain have seen people asking about the duplex systems if worth it or not also there was a part about the need for a new timming case. Does this mean if you fit a double chain system youl need a mini timming cover? To allow for more space? Also people say about using the mini tensioner? So here are people saying buy the standard single chain kit but fit a tensioner from a mini? Looking to do mine in the coming month so from what I can gather you can use either the double chain system and new case from a mini (if you have a modified engine) but if you just require a replacement to just buy a standard kit with cogs aswell but swap the tensioner for a mini version??

You can fit a duplex chain set up using a Minor timing chain cover.
If you fit a simplex chain set up with tensioner you need the 'A' Plus timing chain cover with the bulge to accommodate the tensioner.
You can fit a duplex chain set up with tensioner but you will need the 'A' timing chain cover and you will also need to remove the indent under the timing sensor.
They are all good in their own way and any of the systems described above are easily fitted to a Minor 'A' Series whether it be a 803cc/948cc/1098cc or 1275cc.

So if I fit a duplex kit I can still use my orginal timing cover? Will this reduce rattle? Or am I just curing the noise for a short period I know eventually all kits will have noise but I'd like to prolong the noise for aslong as I can

If you fit a straight duplex timing chain you can use your Minor timing chain cover.
If the cover has a felt seal it is better to change the cover for one that has the neoprene seal fitted.
The duplex will run longer before producing a chain rattle.
When fitting the duplex you will need to replace the two 1/4" bolts at the bottom of the front engine plate with two countersunk screws. You will also need the flat oil thrower plate.
Duplex with tensioner will last the longest.

If you don't mind can you find some part numbers for the products you have mentioned? Don't want to go through the hassle of odering wrong parts
