Need help
I have just bought headlamp guards for my moggie and I am having bother fitting them. I have headlamp peaks on the car already and would also like to fit these guards
I would appreciate any advice on how to fit these guards.

First step - throw away the tacky and dangerous peaks ! Why the stone guards? Are you going rallying ? Even with my various rally cars - I never ever broke a headlamp....

Each to their own, and if you want stone guards then fit them. However, I can't see that they do anything other than reduce the light output - the gaps between the wires are plenty big enough to allow a sharp stone to hit the glass. As to the peaks, they really do divide opinion, but I'm with Roy.

As far as fitting goes, I expect different makes have different methods, so not easy to say without seeing them. Can't be too many options.

I think that you need to take both off, put the stone guard clips in, fit the peak, and then clip the guard on. I inherited some guards in a 'box of bits', tried them and found they did reduce light output. They pop off easily enough for the night time if you really like the look I suppose. I'm not a fan of the peaks either but each to his or her own - kudos to all the other folk keeping these cars going, regardless of style choices.

I'd love to find some guards that fit on auxilliary fog/spot lamps for the rally look, although as bmc says they're not going to be necessary. Good luck.

All the best rally cars had plastic covers over the headlights and padded covers over the spot lights.

I guess the idea is that folks will point, and think jealously ' oh look - a rally car just back from the Monte Carlo...'

Did it have stone guards ?? Sadly - YES it did! ..(Google for Morris Minor NMO 933) . My own car is there too (two to the right, and again further down) - no headlamp guards - but with the Long Range driving lamps turned round (since daylight had arrived) to protect them... And the backs of the lamps do bear evidence to this day of where stones have struck them !

I ran Google Translator on the site and it came up with some gems, for instance

If you want stone guards you fit them. Generally you remove the chrome rim and attach the tabs to the steel mount/clamp that is secured around the light[frame][/frame]
Sod what anybody else thinks

A nod to the glory days of Bentley when they reigned supreme at the Le Mans 24hr race.
The roads were so poor that you did need stone guards.

Mini Sport have the stone guards included in their sale at £10 per pair and those infamous headlight peaks at £9 per pair.

Crikey - ideal then for my TR7 - where the lights tuck themselves away out of sight......
