Has anyone any tips for accessing gearbox filler point when carpets have been fitted?
About to fit new Newton carpets which need bonding down over the tunnel but, obviously, still need access to the filler point. Has anyone done anything smart here? Short of punching a hole through in the correct place (can see that being a grrrrr moment!!!)

Just leave a 'flap' of the tunnel carpet without glue. The filler hole is not far from the left hand carpet edge, which can then be lifted to gain access.

I didn't think the carpet over the tunnel was glued down? Thought it was just glued down over the sills?

I aint done it with the Morris, but the last kit I built I used Velcro of the sticky back variety.

My tunnel carpet is moulded to fit and is stiff enough to not need gluing down. The edge just lifts back to check G'box.

As folk say, don't glue it down. Wether its the new fangled moulded carpet or the old fangled cut and stitched type, screwing the gear lever gaiter and metal rim down through the carpet stops it wandering about so the rest of it just sits where it sits so you can lift up the edge to get to the gearbox filler.

Iain's comment about the cut and stitched type of tunnel carpet, reminded me that I'm still in the market for such an original piece that is in reasonable order, if anyone has replaced with new recently? Prefer blue, black, or grey but could change another colour.
