Hi, does anyone know if its possible to fit a modern Radio into a minor?
Ive got a single disc kenwood cd player id like to fit in "Aunty Mable"(1961 2 Door).
If so how do I go about it? and what about an antenna?
The stereo says, 12v D.C -ground on it.
Many thanks Mark & "Aunty Mable"

It's pretty simple then if your car is -ve earth, if it's still +ve earth it's dead easy to convert it, see http://www.mmoc.org.uk/technicaltips/Ne ... Earth.html . Then it's like fitting it to any other car - not saying much 'cos I don't know how much you're after, shout if you need more, also try searching the site for "CD player" and "Radio", we've had extensive threads on both subjects.
So, briefly, yes, perfectly possible and not too hard at all.

If you do fit a modern radio then I would mount an "in-line fuse" in the circuit just incase. Thats we me and my friend did with his old car

Yup, absolute doddle. You'll need an ariel - the wing-mounted ones are okay, but you could fit one to the roof. Those look fabulous (and are available in chrome) but you'll have to drill through the roof, and unclip the headlining, so it's not so easy.

Some use internal ariels and have had no problems. :D

on the subject of ariels, Im going to fit an automatic one, that goes up when you turn the radio on and goes down when you turn the radio off. Only £19.99 from maplins (http://www.maplin.co.uk)

Rubbish reception with washing detergent though. Might be better with an aerial!

Oh, I don't know.. sometimes the bubbles can really add to the quality of the crackles and pops on Medium Wave... :P

Incidentally, I had to replace my aerial (see, aren't I good, I listened  ) following an argument with the garage door and a gust of wind. The replacement went rusty within a matter of weeks.... about which I'm not best pleased. It was only a cheap fix, so I suppose that it proves you ought to pay the brass in the beginning. Never mind. :-?
