STARTER DOG ON AN A+ MARINA 1300 ENGINE

I am in the process of having a MARINA 1300 a+ engine fully reconditioned
and I was wondering if it is possible to fit a starting handle dog to the
front of the crank as was there when it had a 948cc engine?
I did not want to have a front bumper with a hole in with no purpose.

If this alteration can be done, what do I need to get so that the starting
handle goes through the bumper and into the crankshaft dog rather than
straight through my radiator.

As you can probably see, I am a complete newbie but would value any good
advice that anyone can offer. I thank you all in anticipation.
Kind regards
LIZ

It is perfectly feasible to fit a Minor starter dog bolt to retain the front pulley of a Marina/Ital 1275cc 'A' Plus crankshaft pulley instead of the normal bolt as originally fitted to the 1275cc 'A' Plus engine.
The starting handle should easily pass through the front bumper and under the radiator to engage with the starter dog.
You just have to be careful when passing the starting handle under the radiator. Some radiators used to have or may still have an extra plate fixed under the bottom of the radiator to ensure that the starting handle did not punch a hole in the radiator.

You are aware of the flywheel problem when fitting an A+ engine to a Minor gearbox?
