Can anyone please tell me the proper colour of the wheel brace is it black or red as I'm sure mine had traces of red on it .

Many thanks
Anthony

I've seen both on what I believe to be original braces in original cars; but have only ever seen red jacks. Perhaps there is a change point during production, or simply what paint the supplier had available?

Thanks for that reply, seems mine could have been red so might respray in a red, or use the satin black I have.

Cheers
Anthony

My 1958 Minor has a black jack and a black wheelbrace/starting handle which I believe to be original. Both are red in my later 1960s car as I believe they always were later on.

I've seen them painted black along the length one side and red on the other, if the judges deem the correct colour is red, then lay the handle red side up! :D

Just make sure you NEVER use the jack - by all means use the starting handle, just keep your thumb out of the way.
