carb to manifold nut size..the aliens have abducted mine.

Last thing to do on my head refitting mission.... the nuts that hold the carb to manifold on.....and as usual even though all parts are laid out in the order then came off, the aliens have been around and abducted one of my nuts...can't find it anywhere and obviously it won't turn up until I have a replacement
Does anyone know the size of this but....looks line a very fine fine thread?
Apart from the missing nut she fired up OK after the top end work, just to make sure I hadn't missed anything.
Treated her to an oil/filter change and now have an oil leak from the oil filter housing....old cars don't you love 'um.

3/8" UNF.
Use a 9/16" UNF spanner.

Have you got the spring and washer plate in the filter bowl?
Did you change the rubber seal?
I normally do not change the seal and have no leaks.
It is a brass nut so no use looking for it with a magnet

Used the old seals as the light was fading....my fault.
Yes spring and the other parts all there...never have limed tbese wet filter systems.

I wouldn't mind but they are repeat offenders....its usually a painless affair though...

The nut holding the carb to the manifold is made from steel.
The nuts holding the manifold to the head are (or should be) brass.
If you cannot find the carb nut use an old cut down cylinder head nut. Those carb nuts are normally thinner than a normal 3/8" UNF nut. Use the one you have as a pattern.
Changing the oil filter to a screw on filter assy is one of the best mods you can do to a Minor engine.

who pops out when you pack up for the day and hides odd things or swaps your carefully laid out parts around , every garage or workshop has one !!!
