Hello.
Iv just cleaned my seats for my project traveller. Was just wondering if they take much weight? Or could do with reinforcing? People seem to be 'curvier' these days.

The old straps will sag and break eventually, you can fit a diaphragm which is much longer lasting if you have a fat ass like mine!!

Its the passenger side im worried about lol. I'm gonna change the foam in the bottom bit as its torn through on the drivers side. The frames take weight ok then? Like 19st?

Yes it will be no problem. I once had a seat frame break at the back, it had cracked at the bottom hole for the strap to go accross the back and I got in one day, sat back and ended up lying down!

You might like to consider an engine upgrade

Policemen were traditionally larger gentlemen. Part of the original specification for the Police "panda cars" was reinforced seat frames
The frames as standard are not particularly strong and new seat frames were regularly ordered even when these cars were modern.

There is also the possibility of the floor pan wearing and cracking under the seat legs

Good point Mike, a strip of ply across the two points would spread the load, if it doesn't lift the seat too high.
