This is what's quoted for a 1098cc in an engine test data manual I have----dwell angle 57/63

Much easier to just set the usual 15 thou gap on the points.

It makes little difference - especially in a slow revving/low power engine. It's simply the time the coil has to charge up before each spark is delivered - the smaller the gap, the more time it has to charge between sparks. But of course if set too small - the risk is it will close up completely. Unless you have fitted a 'new' dizzy - yours is likely to be worn and the gap (and dwell..) is likely to vary on each lobe of the cam. It's not something to get over excited about!

Just set the gap then -and if 'worried' - check it on each lobe of the cam.
