Rubber washers

Post by John Foster »

Good morning
Does anyone know where I can purchase two rubber washers for the wing mirrors on my 1967 Morris 1000 2 door Saloon?
I have been told that they are only available when purchased with the wing mirrors, this I find a little bit expensive.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Kind regards
John Foster :D

Buy a pack of washers from Poundland - probably something suitable in there. Or - make your own from a piece of rubber sheet.

There is no such thing as a "Morris Minor wing mirror", they will be an accessory fitted at some time. The maker's name might be visible somewhere on the mirror and a quick google might bring something up. Otherwise as above - you'll have to adapt or make something suitable.

Nice car by the way. I like the 2-tone paintwork :) There used to be one local to us painted in a similar way and I always thought it suited the car.

Do you have a branch of The Range? They are often a good source.

Or if you require something a little thicker try tap washers.

i agree with martin ,use an old car inner tube, cut the hole in a piece of rubber first then use a biro and draw round the chrome bit and then cut out with scissors, it will last longer then anything you buy, hope this info helps ,graham

I do indeed. As I have limited access, I always reverse the car into the garage, so I find them essential. Reversing out of our drive is a definite NO NO.

Since posting the question, I have sourced some rubber sheet which will hopefully do the job.

You do right, if you're on a bus route it's illegal to reverse into the road, but like lots of things probably doesn't matter anymore.
