Maybe I'm missing something but if these wheel trims are only £34.50 + VAT from ESM,
why on earth would someone pay £51.00 + £4.50 postage for a set? Bidding Fever perhaps?

I sold a set for £50 too, but mine were original 60's ones.
I guess people "assume" they aren't available to buy elsewhere and get carried away.....

I was amazed a few years ago when I sold a Clark compressor that was still being manufactured and still being sold by machine mart. I got £22 more than it cost for a brand new one and the guy drove 50 miles to collect it, passing machine mart on the way

I find the whole eBay thing weird. Refuse to touch it with a barge pole...selling or buying.

and normally things sell really well
so I have to disagree with you and some of my best buys have come from ebay

they are not mine just thought I would bring attention to such well restored vans

I doubt if that split screen van has been driven on the road as it doesn't have any wing mirrors. You can't see much behind even with them...I have experience

Don't knock eBay, it was instrumental in a beautiful coming together; a 1967 four door saloon and me!

I buy lots of bits off ebay, its good job I dont win everything I bid though or I wouldnt be able to get in the house!! Biggest ever ebay purchase was my lowlight in 2007

I actually bought my Traveller on eBay...pretty scary though!

I did set an absolute bid limit in my head though, & won it for a tad under.
Very bizarre interrupting a motorbike ride, stopping in the middle of nowhere, leaning on a farmer's gate & bidding at the last second by mobile phone!

I collected it & drove it 260 miles home, more than it had averaged per year for decades!

The only issue was a very old water hose splitting slightly & dripping hot water on my foot - a quick bodge with some pvc tape
was all it took to get me all the way home...

my best buy was a 1959 pick up all steel back in good condition from the isle of white drove it home no issues and had it for 3 years and just serviced it and then sold it on ebay for much more
also a engineers van for £900 and kept that for quite a few years and sold it later on ebay for lots more

You're all very brave and modern. Our kids are the same... I just like to deal with someone that I can eyeball.

The feedback tool helps here. It's easy to tell what type of person you are dealing with. Don't just look at the numbers, look a the comments and review the sales history.

eBay is great if you now how to use it to your advantage.

Got a set of used trims in the shed if they are any use to anybody. Would need cleaning and polishing but free if you collect from Whitstable or from Pluck's Gutter meeting.

Hmmm I have a good used set to I have been wanting to get round to sell may have to sell them then if that's what they are fetching

Its so easy with eBay just bid, pay with Pay Pal then wait for the post SIMPLE

i find ebay a bit hit and miss.

if you manage to get a hard to find part that's in good condition and you pay pennys, then it feels like a result..... winning the jackpot. (been there)

if you buy a reproduced part thinking its as good as the original and then find out its rubbish, you feel pee'd off. (been there).

thing I don't understand is why people pay more for something that you can buy elsewhere for less. sometimes you can just walk to the shop and buy it........
