Engine ID required

I have recently purchased a "spare" 918 engine and would like to have an expert tell me any dating info, etc., that can be gleaned from the attached pictures - first 2 are shots of the head casting numbers[frame][/frame][frame][/frame]
The next image is of the partial engine ID plate on the flywheel cover (engine was a Gold Seal one).[frame][/frame]
And the next picture shows a much narrower fan belt and pulley, to the one I have currently fitted[frame][/frame]

Look for a rond copper plate like this, you can see the number also stamped above the copper plate[frame][/frame]
On the backside from the engine, at the gearbox mounting, at my engines only the last 2 numbers are stamped, but on some engines the whole number:[frame][/frame]
And last but not least, 2 of my engines have the number on top, above the waterpump:[frame][/frame]
Hope you have enough info, so we can get the number.

G'day all
The top pic with 17K2 is a casting date. The first numbers are the day, the letter is the month ie.A is January B is Feb and so on and the last number is the year. 17K2 was cast on the 17 November 1952. The second pic with the number 31693 is the part number. The 4th pic there seems to have been fitted a later C40 dynamo and the belt is to suit the narrower dynamo pulley and then passing over the water pump pulley which is meant for a 'B' section belt.

Bob, thanks very much for that info. So my purchase is slightly newer than the car (14 Mar 1951 - factory leaving date).
This engine block doesn't have a water drain fitted (just a blanking plate) - here is the pic of the full engine as bought.[frame][/frame]

Hi Guys
I do not know of any MM engines with a drain plug. The drain tap for the engine is in the bottom radiator tank on the right side.

Hello Bob,
Out of the 3 engines, that the seller had, one had a blanking plate instead of a water pump and the block drain opening had a "bottom radiator hose" fitted to it), one had everything as on my fitted engine (includes block drain tap), and the one I bought, without a drain tap, but a blanking plate where one can be fitted. The latter 2 had water pumps and pipe work for heater take-offs.
ESM do sell the appropriate alloy block drain cover but, apparently, no matching gasket.
