Hello. Sorry if this has been asked before. But is there a way a traveller can be put on its side without the wood fitted. Engine and box have been removed. Inside is all stripped down. Will be taking the axle off. Im struggling laying under the car. Got the new sill fitted. Mainly want to tip it to clean and de rust and finish off other bits of welding. The car is fairly sound and only requiring minimal welding. Im not really capable of making a roll over jig and can't get help to make one.

We sometimes get bad spelling in posts but I can't see any in yours!
Re- question, if careful it may be possible to roll it onto a mattress.

Now you've got the axle off, the main concern is not distorting the B pillars. A couple of diagonal braces from the top of each pillar to the bottom of the opposite ones should keep the shape. You're moving very fast for someone who keeps playing down his abilities!

Ha thanks give it time with the spelling. Yeah sounds promising then. Iv got aload of old tyres i haven't disposed of yet aswell which will probably be good aswell.

Im really not moving fast. Manged a couple of hours yesterday but cant do anything today. Walking into things, dropping things banging my head. I started this in august. Loving the project tho. Making up panels and things. Oh yeah like in a cross shape X.

It should be light enough - but may actually be easier to roll it over with wheels on. Make sure you have people on the 'roll' side to grab the shell and lower it carefully on to the tyres / mattress........

Oh really il leave the wheels on then. Then remove the axle. Just worried about it bending as they do. Tho it was moved and driven without the wood attached so the damage may already be done. Sort of wish i stuck with the saloon idea but once this is welded im sure it will be ok and like working on a saloon.

The wheels give you something to pivot the shell on as you lift/push it over. Two old wheels without tyres would be fine.

Its not a problem tipping it on its side. I have built a stretched traveller, 42" longer, and I had it on its side for lots of the time, turning it a couple of times to get access to different parts. I ill put some pics on mt facebook page (Dennis Saupe) if you want to see

Use tyres or a mattress

I would advise against using a mattress to rest it on for the obvious fire risks if your welding.

Ha iv got tyres. I have set fire to 2 ford kas welding them up. I now strip the interiors out before welding them.
